QVC and HSN, pioneers in the world of live stream shopping, have recently announced the launch of the QVC and HSN Streaming Service on Comcast’s X1 and Xfinity Flex, creating the first video shopping app on either platform. While the QVC and HSN Streaming Service already allows viewers to watch content and learn about products, the improvements coming in 2022 will allow shoppers to complete their shopping and checkout process in the same experience. Mike George, president and CEO of Qurate Retail, parent company of both QVC and HSN, believes that the video shopping app is the way forward. George said, “Our goal is that this becomes our flagship experience, because it’s so much richer than the [linear-only] experience." Qurate Retail has plans to expand the video shopping app past Comcast X1 and Xfinity Flex to include Roku, Amazon Fire TV, LG’s Shop Time app and Apple TV.
QVC and HSN's reach will be comprised of six channels, QVC, HSN, QVC2, QVC3, QVC Now, and HSN2. Additionally, there is also an extensive range of programs designed specifically for streaming, including “Travel, Cook, Repeat with Curtis Stone,” “One on Wine” with QVC foodie/host Mary DeAngelis, and “Mally Makes It Better” featuring make-up maven Mally Roncal.
QVC and HSN’s expansion speaks volumes about the increasing accessibility and pervasiveness of shoppable video. With QVC and HSN’s combined reach of 218 million viewers, we’re excited to see what this video shopping app has to offer.
